Thats right, Steam was released for Mac 2 weeks ago and now Valve’s flagship franchise is no longer bound to run on only Windows based machines. So far Steam has been releasing new titles every Wednesday, and today we get HL2 added to the mix.
If you have yet to play I recommend picking it up, if your a bit of a story buff pick up the first one when its made available and get the backstory on Gordon Freeman. I already own a license back from when I was using a Windows machine and if you already have a steam account I believe (don’t quote me, I’ll verify this later in the day) they will be respecting that you already purchased the game and not force you to pick it up again.
If you do not own a license it will be on sale for $19.99 and once again I recommend it. This is one of the best-reviewed and best selling games of all time.
So whats your thoughts on HL2 and its availability to the Mac community.
Edit: Confirmed you will not need to purchase a new license if you previously purchased Half-Lift 2 on a windows platform through steam.

I’ve started playing more EVE Online and less World of Warcraft, so I was excited to read about the next EVE Expansion Empyrean Age. its going to be released June 10th and will be including Factional Warfare. Also, in this expansion the in-game story will play a key role and the situation in the game will reflect events depicted in the novel of the same title by Tony Gonzalez. (EVE The Empyrean Age)
This expansion will also allow players and corps to wage battle for control of NPC factions and even certain regions of space. If you have not tried the game yet click the large image above and sign up for a free 14 day trial of the game, But I warn you, you just might get hooked. I’m still amazed at the sheer size of the universe. Also the Economy in this game is truly amazing, its largely controlled by players as almost any item in the game is manufactured from players. The economy is closely tied with the (also player driven) political aspect of the game. CCP (the creators of EVE) is so dedicated to creating a truly amazing economy they have even gone far enough to Hire a economist to assist in the development of the economic side of the game.
What can you do in the EVE Universe? literately anything, like the idea of becoming a Pirate? feel like profiting on taking advantage of others? go for it, Or you could become a bounty hunter and seek out the Bounty placed on the heads of pirates by there victims. Perhaps you’d rather profit from Constructing large scale ships for other players. Or even mining the raw materials used by manufactures to buld the ships.
Take my advice if you try one new game this year let it be EVE Online. Oh yea what kind of computer do you have? not that it matters, EVE will run on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Harmonix created a patch, which was submitted to Sony on December 4th, this patch would have allowed the Guitar Hero III controller to function with Rock Band. However this patch will not be making it to your PS3, Why? Because Activision objected to the Patch, they do not want there controller to work with rock band.
Now am I the only one that thinks this is extremely stupid on Activision’s part? I was planning on buying the GH3 bundle pictured above. Why? because I’d be getting a bunch of new songs in GH3, and a 2nd controller to function as the bass guitar on Rock Band, once I found out about Activision blocking the Patch I said forget it, why pay for the bundle now? I already have Rock Band, Which in my opinion is a far better game.
Honestly I don’t know what Activision was thinking, Granted yes Rock Band is a competing game but the second I leared they were releasing the bundle with only a single controller I would have created the patch myself, look at how many people will be needing a second controller if they want to rock the entire band, in comes GH3 to the rescue, there sales would have rocketed.
As far as I’m concerned I have no intention of buying GH3 unless this patch is released.
